Two-Way Radios for Hospitality

Ensure the safety and delivery of exceptional guest experiences by connecting your team across your hotel with reliable  communications.

It's no secret that the hotel industry was hit hard by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. In this blog, we discuss how the utilization of two-way radios can greatly assist your business/premises now that it has reopened, and ensure that staff can offer the best possible guest experience. We also answer a couple of the most frequently asked questions we're asked about two-way radios for hospitality.

Get those 5-star reviews with advanced communications. The guest experience relies on interactions with your employees. Two-way radios provide an environment where devices, networks, and locations don't matter – hotel staff, from transportation to security, maintenance, housekeeping, and more can communicate instantly, right across your hotel site, or offsite.

Two-way radios have a number of benefits for businesses in the hospitality sector, whether you're running a busy guest-house, a small or large hotel. Communication by radio has proven to be a very effective way to connect staff and coordinate timely services for clients, responding to customer needs, or managing crowds. Without any difficulties two-way radios support ticketing, status messaging and workflow management systems, making it super easy to schedule jobs, pre-assign workers to particular tasks, and to confirm completed jobs. Integrated with Bluetooth® enables discreet wireless earpieces to be worn allowing hospitality staff to keep in touch with supervisors and colleagues, while still carrying out customer facing tasks.

Help your team to work at their best by investing a reliable two-way radio system (which doesn't have to cost a small fortune), delivering excellent quality one-to-many group communications at the touch of a button.

FAQs:
UHF or VHF?
A UHF two-way radio would usually be the best choice where a hotel is concerned. This is particularly because UHF signals are able to penetrate through steel and concrete structures, making them ideal.

Do I need an Ofcom Licence?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions that customers ask us about using two-way radios. Two-way radios do require a licence, unless you are using licence-free (PMR446) walkie talkies, however, we would not recommend these for private communication in a hotel. A basic radio licence costs £75 for five years use, and this covers all of your radios plus any new radios you might add. More info about radio licensing here.

What range can I expect?
Range is dependent on the territory you are using the two-way radios in. A quick conversation with us can point you to a solution that is best suited to the size of your particular site. A basic 'radio-to-radio' set-up will provide around 2 miles of coverage, and for most hotels this should be satisfactory, but if need be, this range can be increased by installing a repeater/base station to take coverage out to around 10 miles.

Let us recommend a two-radio system that's right for your premises and your budget. Contact a Radio Shop expert today for more info.
